Presentation

The Center for Studies in Applied Ethics (CSEA) functions as a research center within the structure of the 'Aurel Vlaicu' University of Arad, Faculty of Economic Sciences. This research center was established on March 20, 2023, under the coordination of Lecturer Dr. Maria Sinaci. The center consists of an interdisciplinary group of researchers and university teaching staff who combine theoretical and applied research to address complex ethical issues that the world faces today. CSEA acts in the spirit of an inclusive community that encourages students, master's students, and doctoral candidates to participate in the Center's activities, thus offering them the opportunity to develop ethical and research competencies.

Through its mission, CSEA aims to promote research in applied ethics and to stimulate broader public debate on a variety of current topics that have a pronounced ethical background. CSEA's objectives focus on approaches from an interdisciplinary perspective, increasing awareness of ethical values, and stimulating critical thinking regarding ethical concerns in contemporary society. Another objective is to establish a connection between university research in the field of applied ethics and the socio-economic environment.

The theoretical and practical concerns of CSEA members and its external collaborators target the following research areas: business ethics, applied ethics in psychology, neuroethics, environmental ethics, media ethics, professional ethics, artificial intelligence ethics, and bioethics.

To achieve its objectives, we propose organizing symposia, conferences, and workshops; conducting research projects on specific topics; and offering specialized courses for teachers and students. CSEA supports and encourages the publication of research results in collective volumes and/or specialized journals in Romania and abroad. Collaboration with other ethics centers in the country and abroad is a priority for CSEA.
