History

Economic sciences have been operating in Arad since the 1993–1994 academic year, when, by letter of the Ministry of National Education no. 1346/17.09.1993, the economic track was established with two modules: Finance and Banking (specialization: Finance and Insurance) and Management, Accounting, and Financial Control (specialization: Accounting and Management Information Systems). From that moment, the Faculty of Engineering became the “Faculty of Engineering and Economic Sciences,” a title under which it operated until October 1999.

The year 1999 marked the birth of the Faculty of Economic Sciences. By Government Decision no. 866/28.10.1999, the act establishing the current Faculty of Economic Sciences was signed, with two specializations: Finance and Insurance (full-time) and Accounting and Management Information Systems (full-time and part-time), both specializations being accredited by the national body in the field operating at that time.

The quality of the educational process, the professionalism of the teaching staff, and the ability to adapt “on the fly” to the dynamics of labor-market demand made it possible to develop the study programs and the educational offerings for students. Thus, today, within the Faculty of Economic Sciences of “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, students can pursue bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in various specializations.
